Development of Donabate Distributor Road will be positive for the local community
Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell has said the development of the Donabate Distributor Road is much needed and will be positive for the local community. Deputy Farrell was speaking following the turning of the sod for this project by the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government, Eoghan Murphy TD.
“I was pleased to join my Fine Gael colleague, the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government, Eoghan Murphy as he turned the sod for the Donabate Distributor Road project alongside Mayor Mary McCamley.
“€15.5 million is being provided by Government for the development of the Donabate Distributor Road, which represents 75% of the overall cost of this project.
“The Donabate Distributor Road will allow for the development of 1,200 housing units by 2021, with the long-term potential for 2,200 housing units to be constructed.
“While this is positive for both the local community and the North County as a whole, I have engaged with Minister Eoghan Murphy regarding concerns of local residents relating to the development and growth of the local community in Donabate.
“It is important that the necessary social infrastructure is provided for Donabate and Portrane in conjunction with the growth of the local community, including the provision of school places, local amenities and measures to tackle construction traffic travelling through Donabate village itself.
“Furthermore, in line with the future development of the peninsula, the delivery of DART extension and an increase of capacity on the Northern Commuter Line are of the utmost importance. These are issues which I recently raised with the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross in Dáil Éireann.
“I will continue to use my voice, as the local Fine Gael TD to ensure the needs and concerns of local residents are heard, and understood by Government, particularly regarding public transport services for the community in Donabate and Portrane.”
