Bridgefield Car Park – Council’s plan to install parking meters.

07/09/2010

Fingal County Council have put forward a proposal in recent days to add parking meters at the Bridgefield Car Park, Malahide Demesne. The proposal will see the same parking by-laws that are currently applied to on street parking entering Malahide Castle.

This proposal is due before the full Council on Monday September 13th 2010 where it will be decide if the matter should go out on public display. As a firm believer in matters such as this getting into the public demesne for your comment, I will be encouraging the Council to put it out on public display.

I remain unconvinced however that penalising park users without any commensurate improvement in the security or size of the car park will be of any great benefit to Malahide as a whole. I am also deeply concerned that introducing parking charges at this location will displace a great many users into residential areas of Malahide village and environs. That being said, I will represent the views of the public dependent upon the findings of the public display process.

Should the full council put this matter on public display on Monday, it will appear here within a few days of September 13th and will detail how to get in touch to air your views.
