800 new houses to be delivered for the North County in Hacketstown, Skerries & Hampton, Balbriggan

200 houses to be delivered in Hacketstown and 600+ residential homes to be delivered in Hampton, with the requirement for 10% to be utilised for social housing, and a minimum of 30% for affordable housing.

Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell has welcomed confirmation that the Land Development Agency has identified Hacketstown, Skerries and Hampton, Balbriggan as priority sites for the delivery of 800 new housing units in the North County.

“I am pleased with confirmation from my Fine Gael colleague, the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, Eoghan Murphy TD that the new Land Development Agency has identified Hacketstown in Skerries, and Hampton, Balbriggan as priority sites for the development of housing.

“The Land Development Agency will take control of these sites, and develop plans to deliver at least 200 residential homes on the Hacketstown site, with a further 600+ to be delivered on the Hampton site. It is important to note, however, that this will be subject to the full public consultation process.

“In both Hacketstown and Hampton, 10% of the houses delivered will be utilised for social housing, while a minimum of 30% must be delivered as affordable homes. It is vital that the number of social and affordable houses on our local communities is increased, and I am pleased to see plans coming forward for significant affordable housing delivery in the North County.

“The development of social and affordable homes must be a priority across the North County. It is vital that Government works to ensure every person, and every family in the North County, and throughout the country has their housing needs met. We must also work to assist first-time buyers in getting on the property market, and ensuring families have homes which are suitable to their requirements. The delivery of new homes, such as those being proposed for Hacketstown and Hampton will be fundamental in achieving this.

“The provision of social and affordable housing is of such importance that I hope public representatives of all parties and none can work together to deliver real, tangible results to benefit individuals and families in our local communities. Housing is simply too important to be kicked around as a football for political gain.

“As the local Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, I will continue to actively engage with Minister Murphy and his Department to ensure the needs and concerns of residents across the North County regarding housing are heard, and acted upon by Government.”
