8th Annual ‘GOAL’ mile to be held at Malahide Castle on Christmas Day

Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell is organising the 8th annual ‘GOAL’ mile charitable walk at Malahide Demense with support from volunteers from the local community and Barry Andrews, Chief Executive Officer of GOAL.

“As well as supporting a very worthy charity, the ‘GOAL’ mile provides local people with a fun way to start their Christmas Day. Participants are asked to run, jog or walk along a one mile circuit which will be marked out in the Malahide Demense. I look forward to welcoming both serious runners, joggers and those who would like to partake in a leisurely morning stroll on Christmas Day.

“Similar events are held by GOAL throughout the country and I can say, from my personal experience, that they are both enjoyable and rewarding. The event in Malahide this year will take place on December 25th between 11am and noon and it will begin at the rear car park of Malahide Castle, off the Back Road.

“Over 200 people participated in the ‘GOAL’ mile in Malahide last year and this annual event has helped to raise over €28,000 since 2007 to support the work of this very worthwhile cause. Donations can be made on the day or at www.goal.ie.

“May I also take this opportunity to wish everybody in Dublin Fingal a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year.”
