Blue Star Programme registration open to primary schools in Fingal

Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell, has urged local primary schools to register for the Blue Star Programme before the deadline of October 7th, 2020.

Deputy Farrell said, “The Blue Star Programme gives young students the chance to learn about the European Union and participate in projects that highlight the EU and our role in it.”

“Ireland has long been a proud member of the EU and we have used our position within the EU to benefit our people and our society.”

Deputy Farrell continued, “Schools can register for the programme which is designed to fit into the existing national curriculum. The programme explores how the EU works, its institutions and explores the history, geography and cultures that make up the European Union.”

“Teachers will also have the ability to adapt the programme to fit their already planned lessons and develop the programme through feedback and reports.”

Deputy Farrell added, “As Brexit negotiations continue, we are reminded of the importance that EU has played in the development and prosperity of our nation since joining the EU. Engaging with young students showing the benefits of our continued participation can unlock a new wave of potential.”
