Despite waiting for community facilities for almost twenty years, Fingal County Council has announced that they are unable to fund the community building for the Kinsealy/Melrose area. The €3 Million project was to go ahead on a site next to Gaelscoil an Dunninigh however, due to budgetary cuts the council’s contribution is no longer available.
Having set aside the money in the 2005 capital programme, I am very disappointed that this community has been let down so badly. I will of course continue to press the council to allocate funds to this facility in the very near future so that the Kinsealy area gets its fair share of investment.
The Swords Baptist Church who are due to become partners in the development of the facility described the news in a recent article as “being ready to go on with the project for two years now and are beginning to get frustrated at the lack of progress.”
I will continue to use my position to push for community facilities right across the county, most particularly in the newly enlarge Howth/Malahide Electoral Ward.
