Council to row back on “growing places” policy

Further to my recent post on the “Growing Places” policy, introduced by Fingal County Council I wish to inform you that the Council have now withdrawn from four areas previously included in the policy within the Howth/Malahide Ward.

Gainsborough Estate has already been cut and will be followed closely by Dal Riada, Carrickhill Park & Burrow Court; This decision has been taken following sustained pressure on the Council parks division by individuals and your local Councillors. Mr. Senan Turnbull has indicated that a further review process and extensive consultation will take place with residents if further areas are to be considered.

I would like to thank residents for making their voices heard and rest assured that I will be watching progress on this matter closely.

Update, June 29th: At the time of writing, the Council have also cut Millview & Ard Na Mara.

Lessons must be learned regarding this type of unilateral action by the Council, we must make these decisions together.
