Delivery of Metro North must remain a priority for Government

Public consultation on Metro North project due to commence in 2018

Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell has said that the Metro North project to connect Swords and the Airport with the city centre is progressing, with public consultation due to begin next year.

“I have received confirmation from the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport that preparatory work is on-going in relation to the planning and design of Metro North and a dedicated Steering Group for the project has been established and is meeting regularly.

“The National Transport Authority, working in conjunction with Transport Infrastructure Ireland, is undertaking an option analysis to complete a selection study of station locations and the possible metro alignments. This will allow for the final route and station configuration to be finalised.

“I have been informed by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport that the this process is expected to be completed before the end of this year, following which, a public consultation process will be opened in 2018.

“I am pleased that the Metro North project is progressing as the delivery of a rail based connection between Swords, the Airport, and the city centre is vital, particularly as our local community continues to grow.

“It is essential that no delays occur in the delivery of Metro North for Swords. As the local Fine Gael TD, I will continue to actively engage with the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, and his Department, to ensure the delivery of Metro North remains a priority for Government.”
