Development of Fingal County Council’s first Affordable Housing Scheme & on-going provision of social housing solutions vital to support local families

Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell has said the fact that Fingal County Council is progressing with the development of its first Affordable Housing Scheme is positive in terms of supporting low-to-middle income earners in getting on the property ladder.

“I am pleased with news that Fingal County Council is progressing with the development of its first Affordable Housing Scheme which will deliver homes for low-to-middle income earners in Lusk.

“I understand that the Council is now beginning the process of finding development partners for this scheme, which will deliver these vital housing solutions in Dun Emer.

“This development has been supported by the allocation of €1.5 million from the Government’s Serviced Site Fund to provide for the reconstruction of Kilhedge Lane in order to ensure the required infrastructure is in place to support the development of affordable housing solutions on public lands.

“News of this development is bolstered by confirmation that Fingal County Council remains on target in relation to the delivery of social housing units within our local communities.

“Between 2015 and 2018, Fingal County Council delivered 4,000 social housing solutions, exceeding the targets set for it under the Rebuilding Ireland Programme.

“I understand that the development of social housing units is ongoing on sites across Fingal, with our local authority working to ensure it continues to meet, and exceed its targets in this regard.

“It is vital that we work to ensure those who need a home are accommodated in suitable accommodation, and that those on low-to-middle incomes are supported in getting on the property ladder.

“As the local Fine Gael TD in Dublin Fingal, I will work to support polices which will provide for greater housing provision, and better supports for those who require assistance with their housing needs.”
