Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell, has welcomed the allocation of €18,096 to two projects in the North County under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme, with a further €6,000 being provided to Fingal County Council for cycling safety promotion.

“I am delighted with the allocation of funding by Minister Michael Ring to two projects in the North County, with further investment also being made in cycling safety promotion Fingal wide which will also benefit our local communities.

“Ardgillian Castle is to receive €8,096 in funding, while Martello Tower in Skerries is being granted €10,000 under the Outdoor recreation Infrastructure Scheme. €6,000 is also being provided to Fingal County Council for the implementation of cycling safety promotion measures.

“The Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme provides funding for the maintenance of existing outdoor recreational facilities, and the development of new recreational infrastructure. This investment is essential in terms of promoting outdoor activities, improving access to such facilities for our local communities, and benefiting public health.

“Such infrastructure is also beneficial in terms of recreational tourism, and will assist in attracting a greater number of visitors to our local community.

“I will continue to actively engage with Minister Ring, and his new Department, to ensure the needs of the North County receive the attention they both require and deserve.”
