Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell is delighted with confirmation from the Minister of State for Sport, Brendan Griffin TD that, following a review of projects previously deemed invalid under the 2017 round of the programme which have now been corrected, Skerries Town FC have been awarded €75,800 Swords Manor FC are to receive €12,500 and Fingal Rowing Club have been granted €23,000.
“I am delighted with confirmation that, following a review of projects previously deemed invalid under the 2017 round of the programme which have now been corrected, SkerriesTown FC, Swords Manor FC and Fingal Rowing Club have been awarded funding.
“Skerries Town FC is to receive €75,800 to provide for floodlighting and equipment, Swords Manor FC has been awarded €12,500 towards equipment and Fingal Rowing Club has been granted €23,000 in funding towards a bot and equipment.
“Sports Capital funding provides essential investment for our local sporting groups and organisations. This support is vital in terms of encouraging more people to engage in sport and physical activity on a more regular basis.
“As Chair of the Oireachtas Committee on Children and Youth Affairs, and with the Committee having recently examined the topic of childhood obesity, we saw the benefits that encouraging people of all ages, and particularly our younger generations, to become more active, more often can have in terms of their future health.
“Sports Capital funding is important to ensure our citizens do become more active on a more regular basis, and live healthier lives. As such, Sports Capital grants for sports clubs and organisations in local communities across the North County and throughout the Country are essential both in providing recreational facilities for local residents, and in supporting our public health goals.
“As the local Fine Gael TD in Dublin Fingal, I will continue to advocate for the needs of community groups and local residents in each locality throughout the North County.”
