€8 million to improve water supply for residents & businesses in Swords

Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell is pleased with the confirmation that Irish Water are progressing with the Swords water main rehabilitation project.

“I am pleased that Irish Water are going to progress the Swords water main rehabilitation project, and will invest roughly €8 million in providing a more reliable water supply to businesses, and homes in Swords. We frequently see burst water mains and pipes in Swords, and this highlights the fact that the water infrastructure in our community is insufficient for the needs of residents and businesses, particularly as Swords continues to grow.

“The Swords water main rehabilitation project is currently at the design and planning works stage. Following a tender process, construction will take approximately 21 months. This investment by Irish Water in Swords is vital in order to serve the needs of our community. The Swords water main has a long history of bursting, and the completion of this project will ensure that there are fewer disruptions to our water supply in future.

“I will engage with Irish Water, and with Minister Simon Coveney and his Department to avoid delays in the delivery of this vital project for Swords and wastewater projects across the North County.
