Current Water Disruptions: Thursday 6th January 2011 : 5pm
Sutton Area: There was a burst on the 9″ watermain in Sutton earlier which has now been repaired. The water supply has been restored to the area however, it may take a couple of hours for water to reach customers on high ground areas.
Naul Area: The burst watermain in the Naul Area this morning has now been repaired. The water supply has been restored to the area, however, it may take a few hours for water to reach all areas.
Malahide: There is a problem with pump serving the Seamount Road Area (including some parts of Seapark). The pump had to be repaired off site today to replace ball bearings and is now being re-installed in the pump station. The pump should be operational again by 6pm and the water supply will return to the area within a couple of hours.
Water Tanker Locations: Static water tankers are in place at the following locations: Naul Village, Grand Hotel in Malahide, Casana Estate in Howth, and Castleknock Lodge.
Water Restrictions
The water supply levels in our reservoirs have increased marginally over recent days, however, we still need to continue restrictions over the coming days. If the situation continues to improve we hope to be able to ease the water restrictions over the coming weeks.
During the restricted periods there should be adequate supplies in your household water tank for very moderate household use. Please do not run appliances such as washing machines and diswashers during the restricted periods in your area. We urge everyone across the county to conserve water at all times and particularly during this period – go to http://www.taptips.ie for ideas on how to conserve water.
THE COUNTY HAS BEEN DIVIDED INTO THREE AREAS WITH RESTRICTIONS BEING ROTATED ON A ROLLING BASIS WHERE EACH AREA WILL ONLY BE AFFECTED EVERY THREE DAYS. DETAILS ON WATER RESTRICTIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Airlocks in plumbing systems: Following a disruption to Water Supply some households may get airlocks in their internal plumbing system. The airlock is generally in the hot water system and most likely the result of faulty internal plumbing. For steps on how to get rid of an airlock, please go to:
