ESB/Vodafone investment in fibre broadband will be incredibly beneficial to Dublin Fingal

Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell, has stated that he is delighted with the news that Balbriggan, Malahide, Portmarnock, Rush, Skerries and Swords are to be included in the first phase of the roll-out of the new high-speed fibre broadband network. This is the result of a new joint venture agreement between ESB and Vodafone.

“I am delighted that so many towns in Dublin Fingal are included in the first phase of the fibre broadband roll-out where 50 towns nationwide will benefit as a result of this €450 million investment in their internet infrastructure.”

“The upgrading of broadband facilities will attract new investment into Dublin Fingal and will provide existing businesses with resources which will increase their potential for growth. This investment will significantly contribute to the economic recovery of the state and it is encouraging to see the private sector playing a strong role in this.”

“The joint venture agreement between ESB and Vodafone complements the Government’s National Broadband Plan which will deliver investment in broadband infrastructure in rural areas throughout the State. Not only is this investment a positive development for Dublin Fingal, but it shows that large companies have confidence in the future of the Irish economy and the State’s economic recovery.”
