Dublin Fingal, Fine Gael TD, Alan Farrell, has been appointed by An Tánaiste, Leo Varadkar, as Fine Gael’s spokesperson for Climate Action.
Deputy Farrell said, “It is a great honour to be appointed as the Climate Action Spokesperson for Fine Gael. Climate Change is the biggest challenge our generation and subsequent generations will have to overcome.”
“I am excited to contribute to Ireland’s fight against climate change and I look forward to playing a role in developing positive policies and initiatives that will benefit people all over Ireland.”
Deputy Farrell continued, “We are have made positive steps in recent years in this field and a Climate Action Bill is being prepared for the Dail. We must be ambitious in our targets and ensure that we do our best to meet them.”
“Climate change is a whole of society problem. It will require us to act as a unified society and share the burden of the task ahead of us, having seen how the Irish people have come together during the Covid-19 pandemic, I believe that we can rise to this challenge as well.”
Deputy Farrell added, “We owe our children and future generations of Irish people, a country and a world that is habitable and sustainable. By acting boldly and ambitiously, we turn the tide on climate change and become a world leader in climate issues.”
Deputy Farrell will also serve on the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Climate Action as well as being a member of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Education, Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science.
