Fingal County Council recognised in the 2014 Excellence in Local Government Awards shortlist

Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell, has welcomed the shortlisting of Fingal County Council in 6 categories for the 2014 Excellence in Local Government Awards.

“I am delighted that Fingal County Council has been shortlisted in 6 categories for the Excellence in Local Government Awards. The fact that they have been shortlisted in more categories than any other local authority in the country is testament to the hard work undertaken by the Council in cooperation with local organisations throughout the area.”

“In the supporting tourism category, Fingal County Council has been nominated for the Ireland V England Cricket Match which took place last year. I would like to congratulate the Council, Malahide Cricket Club officers and members, the ground staff, and the volunteers who were instrumental in making this event such a success. I also want to acknowledge Cricket Ireland’s enormous contribution to the organisation of this match. This nomination can be attributed to the hard-work of all involved. In addition to further showcasing the quality of Irish cricket, it also serves to highlight the abundance of wonderful venues throughout Fingal.”

“Fingal County Council has also been nominated for awards in categories of Supporting Active Communities, Citizen Engagement, Smarter Travel, Best Library Service and Joint Local Authority Initiative.”

It is encouraging to see that the work of our local authority is consistently among the best in Ireland and I am pleased that this is being recognised, despite the ongoing constraints of reduced funding. The Awards will take place on November 13th and I wish Fingal County Council, and all involved the best of luck.
