Yesterday, Malahide Castle hosted a wonderful free family fun day. The event which I would estimate attracted close to 10,000 people throughout the day was held together by a very popular Farmers Market.
Bouncy Castles, Face painting, puppet shows, interactive sports as well as car racing, soccer skills and a dog show (www.dogtrainingireland.ie) were on hand to entertain the thousands of kids and adults who attended.
The original concept for Fingal Day was a series of events across the county, however my idea was cut down to one event in Malahide to ensure that it would be a successful day within the budget allowed.
I would like to thank sincerely all the staff from Fingal County Council and most particularly Mr. Paul Barnes from the Corporate Affairs Department who’s dedication allowed the whole event go off without a hitch; and on a Sunday at that. Of course a big thank you to the thousands of people who attended!
Will it happen again? With a bit of luck, I will do my best to ensure that should an event of this nature take place in Fingal next year, it will happen in Malahide!
