Government allocates over €1.7 million to sports clubs in Dublin Fingal

A total €40 million has been awarded to local sports clubs and societies nationwide from the Sports Capital Fund with over €1.7 million of this coming to Dublin Fingal according to Alan Farrell, Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal.

“This announcement will provide a terrific boost to sports clubs throughout the north county and it will prove to be very significant for our local economy. Over 2000 applications were made to the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport for Sports Capital Funding and the fact that 24 clubs in Dublin Fingal were successful in their bids highlights the tremendous quality of these clubs and of sport in general throughout the constituency. As a result of this, the number of opportunities available for children to learn about different sports and to excel in the sport of their choice will grow significantly.”

“Providing this financial support to sports clubs and societies is essential to allow them to develop and grow in conjunction with the country’s on-going economic recovery. Also, given the rising rates of childhood obesity and the benefits which sport provides in tackling this, it is now more important than ever to ensure that sports clubs of all varieties receive the support they deserve.”

“It is important to remember that many clubs and societies were unsuccessful in their bid for Sports Capital funding, I offer my commiserations to them and I urge them to consider reapplying in the future. I would like to commend Minister Ring for his commitment to delivering this funding to sports clubs and societies in Dublin Fingal and throughout the country.”
