High Speed Broadband is vital for Local Business Infrastructure

Fine Gael TD for Dublin North Alan Farrell has today (Monday) welcomed the announcement that Eircom has included Donabate/Swords in the first phase of its high speed fibre powered broadband roll out, expected to be complete in the Summer of 2012.

“This is a very positive step towards improving the broadband service within Dublin North. Access to fibre powered broadband is of strategic importance to the vibrant business community in Swords and Donabate.

“Homes and businesses in this area will soon have the opportunity to take advantage of a growing broadband market, and we know that the expansion of the market leads to improved quality and services. Vital infrastructure such as high speed, good quality broadband is invaluable for businesses to communicate and perform effectively within today’s digitally focussed market.

“This government has set out its agenda for the next four years to co invest with the private and semi state sector to provide next generation broadband to every home and business in the state, with the aim to deliver fibre powered broadband to 90% of homes and businesses.”
