Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell has said that the increase in the cash value of grants available under the Better Energy Homes Scheme will benefit many homeowners in the North County.
“The fact that the cash value of every grant available to householders under the Better Energy Homes Scheme has been increased will benefit many homeowners in Dublin Fingal. The new grant levels, where each available grant has been increased by between 25% and 50%, come into effect immediately and they will apply to every person who has applied for a grant but not yet received funding from the scheme.
“In addition to the new grant levels, the minimum grant threshold of €400 has been abolished and bonus payments have been introduced. Where householders have undertaken three energy efficiency measures, they will be eligible to receive an additional bonus payment of €300, while those who have carried out the implementation of four efficiency measures will have a further €100 bonus payment available to them. These are positive changes to the Better Energy Homes Scheme which many home-owners in the North County will be able to benefit from.
“The purpose of the revamp of the Better Energy Homes Scheme is to encourage more people to avail of the grants in order to increase the energy efficiency of their homes. The improvements which can be carried out with grants from this scheme will assist people in making their own homes warmer and more comfortable while also working to help them in reducing their energy bills. Furthermore, it will work towards reducing the State’s dependence on the importation of fossil fuels and help us in our efforts to meet our goals in relation to tackling climate change.
“I hope that the revamped Better Homes Energy Scheme will encourage more homeowners in Dublin Fingal to consider carrying-out home energy upgrades and applying for a grant from this scheme.”
