Increasing tourism trends are positive for Dublin Fingal

Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell, has said the increasing number of overseas visitors to Ireland is encouraging news and it highlights the important role of tourism in the Irish economy following the publication of Tourism Ireland’s July Situation and Outlook Analysis Report 2014.

“The fact that tourism trends continue to increase will be very welcome news to businesses throughout Dublin Fingal. Overseas visitors to the Ireland grew by 10% for the first six months of this year when compared to the same period in 2013. In addition to this, the number of visitors from each of our overseas markets also increased.”

“Tourism Ireland estimate that there are over 450,000 one-way, direct flights into Ireland for the 2014 peak summer season. The last time such a volume of seats was available was in 2008. The fact that airlines are increasing the number of seats available on flights to Ireland highlights their confidence in the country as leading tourism destination. Towns throughout Dublin Fingal are in a prime position to directly benefit from these increasing tourism trends due to the presence of Dublin Airport in the constituency.”

“Given the constituency’s beautiful scenery and attractions, the North County has a great deal to offer tourists during their time in Ireland and, for this reason; it is a leading destination for tourists visiting the country. The increase in visitor numbers is testament to the hard work of Tourism Ireland and the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport.”
