Launch of 4G services will make Ireland more attractive as a business location

Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal Alan Farrell has today (Thursday) welcomed the launch of 4G services in Ireland. 4G services allow users access the internet at data speeds up to 10 times faster. Deputy Farrell said that having 4G will make Ireland more attractive to foreign investors and increase the country’s competitiveness.

“This shows that investor confidence in the recovering economy. The rolling out of 4G services will make Ireland more attractive to foreign investors and increase the country’s competitiveness. It is important that all parts of the country benefit from 4G.

“The provision of 4G in Ireland has provided a welcome boost to the exchequer. Mobile operators paid some €845 million to the Exchequer for the available spectrum in last year’s auction. This is a massive boost at a time when we are running at a deficit and will help to fund health, education and other key services in the State.

“4G users can avail of data speeds up to 10 times faster than current 3G technologies. The speeds available to the business sector will match those available elsewhere for web browsing and video streaming.”
