Malahide wins award for Best DART Station

Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell, has congratulated Malahide Station on winning the accolade of Best DART Station at the annual Iarnród Éireann Best Station Awards.

“Malahide Station provides an easy link for visitors and tourists to come to our local community. It provides an essential transport link which incentivises investment in Malahide and the surrounding communities, while also providing a vital link between Malahide and the city centre.

“The demand on public transport is increasing significantly, particularly with more people going back to work and tourist numbers rising. This puts stations, such as Malahide, under increased pressure to perform at a high standard. This award shows that Malahide Station, and the staff who work there, are responding to this challenge beating off competition from southside stations, including Dun Laoghaoire and Sandycove & Glasthule, to take home the award.

“Voting was conducted through an online poll and voting at stations, with almost 4,000 people taking part. Customers rated stations based on customer information, station appearance and staff helpfulness.

“I am pleased that the work of the local volunteers was also recognised with a special mention being given to the beautiful garden in Malahide Station, which is diligently maintained by members of the local community.

“I would also like to extend my congratulations to the team in Balbriggan Station which was highly commended in the Commuter Station section of the awards.”
