Once off payment of €1,000 will help sole traders

Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell, has urged self employed people to avail of the newly revamped Enterprise Support Grant.

Deputy Farrell said, “Previously this grant was available only to those starting up new businesses, however, this has been expanded to include sole traders who have had their income impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.”

“The expansion is designed to give a once off payment of €1,000 to self-employed people and will help many people in our community. It will be available to Taxi Drivers, Plumbers, Electrician, etc. who do not pay commercial rates.”

Deputy Farrell continued, “I am pleased that this support has now been introduced, it is an important and necessary step to help sole traders who may not have been eligible to other grants and will help ensure that their businesses get support to carry on.”

“Applications are open from today (Friday, August 14th) and I would urge anyone who is eligible to apply for this grant. Such grants can relieve some of the stress being felt by many businesses in Ireland as we grapple with the economic fallout from Covid-19.”

Deputy Farrell added, “These kinds of businesses provide a valuable service to society and play a pivotal role in our economy, this grant will ensure that we return that support.”
