This afternoon at 330pm I was presented with a Taoiseach’s Award for Excellence in Public Service.
It was a very great honour to accept the Award on behalf of Fingal County Council. Our Community, Recreation & General Strategic Policy Committee which has been chaired for the past four years by Cllr. Anne Devitt, my Fine Gael colleague in Swords established the Fingal Schools Model.
20 Schools in Fingal which are to be build in the next few years will feature 600 sq. metre sports halls, changing facilities and multipurpose rooms which will be available to the general public and not just school children.
The model was recently agreed with the Department of Education and will eventually be rolled out across the country.
The Award was presented by An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern at a ceremony in St. Patricks Hall, Dublin Castle.
