“I am pleased that the Casino Fry Model Collection Exhibition will be open to the public in Malahide in early 2017 according to information supplied by Fingal County Council in their response to a question from Councillor Anthony Lavin” says Alan Farrell, Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal.
“The development of the Fry Model Collection Exhibition in the Casino, Malahide is an issue which both myself, and Cllr. Anthony Lavin, have been monitoring closely. After many years of false starts, and delays in the completion of the legal process relating to the acquisition of the lands to house the Fry Model Collection, it is great that this development is now progressing and that a clear timeframe has been put in place by Fingal County Council.
“In their update, Fingal County Council confirmed that survey works on the existing Casino building are due to commence in the next two weeks. The sketch layouts for the restoration works are currently in progress; it is expected that the necessary site works will begin in July 2016 and will take roughly six months to complete. The restoration works on the Casino building will include a rethatching of the roof and may require a small extension to the existing structure in order to allow for the creation of a larger exhibition area for the Fry Model Collection, and the installation of public toilets for visitors.
“The Fry Model Railway Collection Exhibition will undoubtedly attract a greater number of visitors to Malahide and will subsequently provide a boost for the local economy. I, along with Cllr. Anthony Lavin, will continue to monitor the progress of this project closely. I hope that any further delays can be avoided and I look forward to the exhibition opening to the public in early 2017.”
