Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, and member of the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee, Alan Farrell has welcomed confirmation from the Acting Garda Commissioner Dónall Ó Cualáin that the reopening of Rush Garda station has been recommended by An Garda Síochána in a report provided to the Department of Justice earlier this week.
“I am delighted with confirmation that An Garda Síochána have recommended the reopening of Rush Garda station in the report it has provided to the Department of Justice and Equality earlier this week.
“Rush Garda station is one of six stations nationwide which have been recommended for reopening.
“Following this recommendation, An Garda Síochána will have to liaise with the Office of Public Works in order to identify the remedial works necessary in the station building. This will allow for the timeframe and cost of reopening the station to be determined.
“In addition to this, an analysis will be undertaken to identify the required number of staff and vehicles for each station in addition to the ICT equipment and resources which will be necessary.
“Following the completion of these stages, I am pleased to say that the reopening of Rush Garda station will become a reality.
“As the local Fine Gael TD, I am pleased with this positive news for Rush as confirmed by the acting Garda Commissioner when he appeared in front of the Public Accounts Committee.
“This signifies a great victory for the local community in Rush who have been campaigning for the reopening of the local Garda station.”
