Residents should be wary of bogus ‘Household Charge’ callers

Fine Gael TD for Dublin North Alan Farrell has today (Thursday) urged residents in Dublin North to be vigilant of ‘bogus callers’ who are identifying themselves as staff from Fingal County Council collecting money from unsuspecting residents.

“There have been reports of bogus callers to homes in Dublin North, posing as representatives from Fingal County Council, looking for direct payment for the Household Charge.

“I want to warn people to be vigilant of anyone calling to their house looking for money, and want to reiterate that no council staff member will call to your door looking for payment up front. Payment for the Household Charge can only be made online, by post, or at the offices of Fingal County Council in Swords.

“The deadline for paying the Household Charge on time is the 31st March 2012. If you have yet to pay the charge, you can log on to www.householdcharge.ie or call to office of Fingal County Council in Swords. To pay by postal order, you can pick up a form at your local post office and send a postal order to the Household Charge Bureau at P.O. Box 12168, Dublin 1.”
