Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell has received information from the Minister responsible for the Office of Public Works that Rush Garda station is due to be handed over to An Garda Síochána in mid-2019, following the completion of all works to allow the station to reopen.
“The reopening of Rush Garda station is vitally important for the local community. Reopening this station will work to ensure members of the local community can feel safe on their local streets and in their own homes.
“I have questioned the Minister responsible on the progress in relation to the reopening of Rush Garda station to date.
“As we are already aware, the Office of Public Works received possession of the building from the then licensee at the end of September last year.
“Furthermore, An Garda Síochána confirmed the final agreement to the proposed plans for the reopening of the station in December 2018.
“I have now been informed by the Minister that the Office of Public Works is now progressing with the procurement of the necessary works to allow Rush Garda station to reopen.
“The required works are expected to be completed by mid-2019 at which time the building will be handed over to An Garda Síochána.
“As the local Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, I will continue to monitor progress on the reopening of Rush Garda station until the project is delivered for the local community.”
