Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell has asked people in Dublin Fingal to support businesses in their communities in the run up to Christmas by shopping local.
“As we enter the festive period, I would like to encourage everybody in Dublin Fingal to shop local. Supporting local retailers benefits the local community as a whole and, for that reason, it is important that we remember our small local businesses as our preparations for Christmas begin.
“Retail Excellence Ireland has estimated that every €1 spent in a local shop is actually worth €4 to the local economy. In Ireland, roughly 272,000 people are employed in the retail sector and the majority of these people work in small businesses. By supporting our local businesses we can help them to become successful. Successful small retailers are important job creators in the community. With every job they create, the amount of cash flow in the local economy increases which, in turn, goes towards supporting other small businesses.
“Local businesses play an important role in our communities and in ensuring that we have vibrant streets in the towns and villages throughout the North County. I would ask everyone in Dublin Fingal to consider shopping local this Christmas.”
