Regardless of today’s result for me personally, I am very grateful to those who saw fit to support me with their number 1 vote and the countless others who supported me in other ways. I believe that the Fine Gael party under Enda Kenny have done extraordinary work in ensuring that the Irish people had a real alternative to the auction politics of Fianna Fail and their various partners over the last fourteen years.
As is now my tradition, I will not be attending the count until much later in the day and instead will be taking in a movie.
