Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell, has stated that the funding allocated to Donabate Portrane Tennis Club will have a major impact on the development of the club and will be hugely beneficial to the local community as a whole.
“With over €180,000 being allocated to Donabate Portrane Tennis Club, the club now has great potential for development and growth. I am delighted to see this level of investment by the Government into Donabate and Portrane and it is testament to the confidence we have in the club’s future. Sports clubs like this often become a focal point of the local community, providing both experienced tennis players and newcomers with the support and dedicated space to practice and play at their leisure.”
Robbie Harold, Chairman of Donabate Portrane Tennis Club said “The Sports Capital Funding which we have been granted will allow us to build new tennis courts and provide the facilities for members of the local community to play tennis. Currently, we are in negotiations to locate the tennis courts on a site in Donabate Golf Club. In the meantime, tennis coaching programmes for adults and children are taking place on the courts at Donabate Community College.”
Deputy Farrell added “I hope that the development of these facilities by Donabate Portrane Tennis Club will encourage the children of the community to pick up a racket and try their hand at playing tennis. Perhaps we will find the next tennis superstar locally.”
