I am delighted with confirmation from my Fine Gael colleague, the Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton TD that three new primary schools are to be developed in Dublin Fingal.
An 8 classroom primary school will be delivered for Swords South, with another 8 classroom primary school being provided for Swords North. These two new schools are scheduled to open in 2019.
In addition to this, a new 16 classroom primary school will be delivered to serve the local community in Donabate, and is due to open in 2020.
Minister Bruton has also provided confirmation that the two new secondary schools to serve Swords, and Malahide and Portmarnock are on-track to open this coming September, in temporary accommodation until new, state-of-the-art, permanent homes are delivered for both of these schools.
Providing the necessary investment in educational infrastructure for every local community in the North County is of the utmost importance.
I will continue to actively engage with Minister Bruton, and the Department of Education and Skills to ensure no delays occur in the delivery of these 3 new primary schools for Swords and Donabate, and to make sure the two 2 new post-primary schools remain on schedule to open this September.
